About this work
An etching shows the Virgin Mary seated on a donkey holding the infant Christ, while an elderly man with a staff leads the animal. Cherubs and clouds fill the upper sky above a distant landscape. The Spanish inscription notes that the original painting, attributed to Luca Giordano, hangs in the oratory of the King at the Palacio del Buen Retiro, and that the print was engraved by Joseph del Castillo.
