About this work

An etched interior shows a dim room with a long window at left, a wall hung with looped drapery, and a tall pillar bearing a candle. A bowed man stands by the window, a woman in a dark dress holds a wreath beside a laurel branch on the floor, and a seated figure sits at a piano at right. The print is inscribed with a dedication to Gerhart Hauptmann and the title Michael Kramer, and is dated 1904 in the artist's hand, by Emil Orlik.
