About this work

A watercolor and pencil drawing shows a grove of tall pine trees with spreading canopies rising above a flat, grassy ground. Lighter, hazier trees recede into the distance on the right, and a handwritten caption in the lower left reads "The pine trees of El Monte. April 10th 1898." The work is attributed to Samuel Colman and dated 1898.
