This etching, titled Print, A Jester, ca. 1890, by William Merritt Chase, shows a jester in a patterned costume with a hooded cap and ragged trailing ends, leaning forward beside a carved column in a dark interior. Fine hatched lines model the figure and the stone floor, and the artist's signature appears at lower left. The sheet is mounted on a cream support with a red wax seal and a handwritten credit reading that it was presented by Mrs. William M. Chase in 1918.
