About this work
This is a painted ceiling sketch showing allegorical female figures and winged cupids floating among clouds against a pale blue sky, with flowing draperies in red, orange, green and blue. The work is the bozzetto for the ceiling fresco in the dance hall of the Paul Ritter von Schoeller Palace in Vienna, by Carl Johann Peyfuss. The inscription on the sheet reads 'Plafond-Skizze für den Tanzsaal, Palais Paul Ritter von Schoeller', and the artist's signature appears at lower left.
