This watercolor and ink sketch shows a coastal scene with a dense band of wind-bent trees and shrubs above a sandy dune, with a strip of blue sea visible at the horizon. Handwritten inscriptions on the sheet read "Sea Girt, Sept 1878" and "Sea Girt, Sept 11, 1878,". The work is attributed to Samuel Colman and dated 1878.
