About this work

The painting shows several sailing fishing boats hauling heavy nets through choppy green water, with fishermen in red caps and rolled sleeves working at the rails and in a small rowboat. A distant silhouette of a city with domes and towers lies low along the horizon, while gulls wheel overhead.
