About this work
An engraved print shows a man in a dark coat and wide-brimmed hat riding a galloping white horse along a dirt road through a wooded landscape. The horse's legs are extended in a full stride while the rider holds the reins firmly, and the trees and undergrowth are rendered in dense hatched lines. The work is titled The Newspaper Correspondent by Edwin Forbes and dated 1876.
