About this work
This etching by Edwin Forbes, dated 1876, is divided into two scenes. The upper panel shows a column of mounted troops and wagons fording a river while others rest on the bank, and the lower panel shows a wooded camp with horses, wagons and a farmhouse beside a road strewn with fallen figures.
