About this work
An etched night scene shows a column of marching soldiers and mounted riders moving along a forest road, lit by a burning tree trunk at left. A wagon drawn by horses advances through a cloud of smoke at center, while tall pines rise against a pale sky. This print by Edwin Forbes is dated 1876 and is titled A Night March.
