This Japanese woodblock print shows a large samurai figure carrying a young child on his shoulders across a tidal flat strewn with stones, while villagers and children wade and gather along the shore. A samurai in a crested black haori and a figure in red-and-blue armor stand at right, and a distant hill and mountain rise beyond the water.
