About this work
This etching shows a lion seated at right beneath a tree, facing a gathering of animals including wolves, a fox, a rooster, a cat, and a dog. The engraved landscape with a distant hill and a large tree frames the scene, which is attributed to Allart van Everdingen and dated 1650, after Hendrick van Alcmar's Renard the Fox.
