About this work
A wood engraving on a printed magazine page shows two men in period dress in a barren landscape, one seated holding a skull and the other standing with arms folded beside a cross. The engraving is captioned as after a painting by Eugène Delacroix depicting Hamlet and Horatio, and the surrounding text is from the Magasin Pittoresque, Tome V, December 1837.
