About this work
A full-length costume design shows a young man in a green military-style coat with red collar and shoulder boards, gold cross straps, and a tall black shako with a silver emblem. The sketch is painted in watercolor and ink and bears the handwritten French label "Jeune homme noble (école militaire)". Serge Sudeikin made the design in 1924 for the Metropolitan Opera production of Stravinsky's ballet Petrouchka.
