About this work
An engraved print shows a young woman in a dark cloak over a pale gown with a lace collar, standing beside a table with writing implements and holding a sheet marked with numbers. Stacked volumes and an ornate frieze fill the room behind her. The French verses at the bottom page are attributed to Grégoire Huret, dated 1633, from the series The liberal arts.
