About this work
A black and white lithographic portrait shows a woman in profile, seated in a draped chair with her hands folded over a lace-trimmed gown. Her hair is swept up and decorated with flowers, and a floral corsage is pinned at her bodice. The image is printed within an oval frame and bears the inscription crediting the lithographer Léon Noël after F. Winterhalter.
