About this work
This black-and-white engraving depicts a rustic thatched cottage with a weathered wooden porch and a heavily overgrown tree canopy. The dense hatching and dark masses of foliage suggest a picturesque rural scene. The work is listed as an 1797 print by John Thomas Smith from his series Remarks on rural scenery.
