About this work
An engraved print titled Pastime in Ancient Egypt, after Lawrence Alma-Tadema, shows two dancers performing in a columned hall before a seated audience. Musicians kneel at left playing a harp and a stringed instrument, while spectators in elaborate garments and wigs line the right side beneath painted walls. The geometric patterned floor and papyrus-style capitals define the architectural setting.
