About this work
A colored design drawing shows an upright loom with carved wooden posts decorated with blue spirals and a painted border of blue waves and red dots. The loom holds a partly woven textile with red and blue vertical threads, red stylized motifs at the top, and fringed tassels at the bottom, with pencil dimension notes in the margins. The sheet is attributed to Léon Bakst and dated 1913, as part of a design for a loom possibly for the ballet 'Helen of Sparta'.
