About this work
An engraved illustration shows a recumbent stone effigy of a figure with hands pressed together in prayer, resting on a carved tomb chest. The chest front is decorated with gothic tracery panels framing quatrefoil shield motifs. This engraving from John Thomas Smith's 1791 series Antiquities of London and environs records a monument of this kind.
