About this work

This engraved plate from John Thomas Smith's Antiquities of London and environs, dated 1791, shows a memorial monument with a carved bust of a man in a full wig and cravat set atop a arched entablature. Two columns flank the composition, with a swagged drapery and a reclining putto beneath the arch, and a relief panel with figures appears at the base between cherub heads.
