About this work
A black and white engraved view shows a river in the foreground with a figure pulling a line along the bank, while on the far shore a dense group of trees frames a cluster of towered and turreted buildings with a church tower on the right. The reflections of the buildings in the water add depth to the scene. This plate is from Antiquities of London and environs by John Thomas Smith, dated 1791.
