This engraved illustration shows a stone hearth with a rounded opening, a projecting mantel-like ledge, and adjoining wall paneling rendered in fine line hatching. The architectural details, including a vertical pipe along the left edge, are depicted with crisp contour lines and shadow. The work is attributed to John Thomas Smith and dated 1791, from the series Antiquities of London and environs.
