About this work
A pale grey bird with a crested head perches on a gnarled branch in this pencil and wash drawing by Aert Schouman, dated 1710. A distant landscape with hills, palm trees and a small building appears at the lower left. The sheet is marked Tab. VI and carries the artist's signature in the lower margin.
