About this work

A dark wooded landscape shows a large raptor swooping in from the upper left above a tree trunk and dense undergrowth of thistles, cornflowers, marigolds and morning glories. Two partridges stand on the forest floor below, one with spread wings, while a small songbird perches in the foliage at right and a hazy valley with a village opens behind them.
