About this work
This black and white print shows a steeply angled aircraft wing and struts seen from the cockpit, with a patchwork town and winding road far below and cumulus clouds in the sky. The hatched, crosshatched line work gives the wing and ground strong contrast. The work is Banking at 4000 Feet by C. R. W. Nevinson, dated 1917.
