About this work
The Triumph of Galatea by Charles Alphonse du Fresnoy depicts a nude goddess seated atop a dolphin-like sea creature, holding a long pink drape that arcs above her while a winged cherub pulls at it. Another nymph rides beside her, and a figure with a wreath blows into a conch shell in the lower right, amid churning blue waters beneath a cloudy sky.
