About this work

A woman with short dark hair sits in a green wicker chair, reading an open book in a brushwork style of small, textured strokes. Behind her, shelves of colorful book spines and a blue patterned wall fill the background. The painting is shown in a gold frame on a white gallery wall, with an explanatory label beside it.
