About this work
A long horizontal woodcut shows a procession in which a seated ruler under a canopy is carried on a litter by barefoot attendants. Armed men with spears, shields and swords surround him, while trumpeters and a drummer march alongside, and a bird flies above a palm tree. German text above and beside the scene identifies the ruler as the King of Gutzin, by Hans Burgkmair.
