About this work

An engraved oval composition shows a seated woman playing a lyre beside a cherub who embraces her shoulder, while a second cupid sits at lower right. The lettering inside the oval reads 'For the Benefit of Mr Giardini', and the sheet is inscribed by hand 'April 6th Hanover Square' below. The print is credited to Giovanni Battista Cipriani as designer and to the engraver F. Bartolozzi, dated 1780.
