About this work
An engraved print of a scene from Shakespeare's Tempest, shown with a cave setting. An elderly bearded man with a staff gestures toward a winged spirit descending through a beam of light, while a muscular, crouching creature with a snarling face reaches toward them. A young woman in a flowing gown stands at the left beside a small animal. The title Tempest, act I, scene II appears in the lower margin, from the series The Shakespeare Gallery by Henry Fuseli.
