About this work

Enten auf einem Schilfteich by Alexander Koester shows several white ducks swimming and resting on a dark pond edged with tall reeds and floating leaves. A duck stands on a wooden plank at the upper left, while others dip their heads into the rippling water. The loose, layered brushwork renders the feathers, foliage and reflections in soft greens, browns and lavender tones.
