About this work

A hand-coloured aquatint-style view shows the interior colonnade of a rock-cut cave temple, with ornate carved pillars and a balustrade in the foreground and seated figures carved into the rock wall at left. Two small human figures stand on the upper ledge, giving a sense of scale against the cliff. This drawing by Thomas Daniell is dated 1803.
