About this work

This mezzotint portrait shows a seated man with long wavy hair, wearing clerical robes with full white sleeves and a dark mantle, resting his hands on a carved wooden armchair. A Latin inscription along the lower margin identifies the sitter as Reverend Father John Moore, Bishop of Norwich, consecrated July 5, 1691, and a coat of arms appears beneath it. The print is attributed to Godfrey Kneller, who painted it, and engraved by W. Faithorne.
