About this work
This engraved print shows a harbour scene with large naval vessels moored in calm water beneath a bright rainbow arching over a grey, cloudy sky. In the foreground, figures in period clothing rest on a stone quay beside a wooden boat, while smaller sailing boats and a rowing boat move across the water toward a distant town. The work is a print by Clarkson Frederick Stanfield, dated 1847, from the series Stanfield's Coast Scenery.
