About this work

This circular painting, titled Eros et Psyche and attributed to Guillaume Dubufe, shows two nude figures seated together on a grassy rock above a lake. The winged youth at left gazes toward the sky while the young woman at right, wearing a peacock feather headdress and blue drapery, holds a spray of white blossoms. The watercolor landscape of trees and distant hills is framed by a gilded laurel border with a floral mat.
