About this work
A full-length standing portrait of a man in a dark blue military coat with red facings, an orange sash, a star-shaped order on his chest, white breeches and tall black riding boots, leaning on a cane in a forest clearing. Mounted soldiers ride along a path in the background, and a plumed helmet rests on a rocky bank at right. The print is dated 1786 and is attributed to Franz Niklaus König.
