About this work
An engraved alpine view shows a glacier flowing between snow-capped peaks, with a tall pointed summit at center and rugged boulder-strewn slopes in the foreground. A small figure stands on the rocks at lower left, and a decorative frame with a chamois head and floral garland surrounds the image. The print is by Caspar Wolf, dated 1777, and is titled as a view of the Breithorn glacier toward the west.
