About this work

A rectangular stone commemorative plaque is mounted on a granite wall, with an abstract relief of angular and wavy planes at the top and engraved text below. The inscription states that the Madrid painter José Victoriano González, known as Juan Gris, was born in this house, and gives his dates as 1887 to 1927. The plaque also notes that the people of Madrid placed it on the 59th anniversary of his death, 11 May 1986.
