About this work

This hand-coloured aquatint shows a domed palace pavilion with arched galleries and small kiosks rising above a high stone wall beside a river. Boats move on the water and rocks break the surface in the foreground, with trees and distant buildings along the opposite bank. The print is titled as a view of part of the palace of the late Nabob Suja ul Dowla at Fizabad and is attributed to William Hodges, drawn on the spot and engraved by him.
