About this work
A monk in a brown habit stands at the water's edge gesturing toward a gathering of animals, including a horse, cattle, sheep, goats, storks, and parrots perched in a tree. A second robed figure rests on a fallen log beside them, while a wooded landscape with distant hills and a small building fills the background. The painting is attributed to Johannes Siberechts and dated 1666 by the inscription in the lower right corner.
