This painted landscape, titled An Italian Capriccio Veduta, with a Greek temple near shoreline, and a distant volcano, is attributed to Jacob Philipp Hackert and dated 1778. It shows massive shaded trees in the foreground, goats and a resting herdsman on a grassy bank, and cattle drinking at a pool, while a classical temple, a hazy volcanic peak and a distant coastline recede into the pale sky.
