This hand-coloured lithograph in sepia tones shows the Bastille fortress in Paris, with its cylindrical towers and crenellated walls rising beside the Porte Saint-Antoine gate. A broad boulevard lined with young trees runs in front, while a horse-drawn carriage and pedestrians move along the roadway near a stone bastion and a statue. The print is attributed to Theodor Josef Hubert Hoffbauer and dated 1740.
