About this work

This black-and-white engraving shows a church carved within a salt mine, with rough rock walls framing ornate stone arches and columns. Several figures in period dress gather near a carved stone font and a statue, while a row of hanging lamps lights the far chapel. The print is titled as a view of the church in the Wieliczka salt mines in Galicia, drawn by François Stroobant and published in 1862.
