About this work

The painting shows a hillside covered in dense bluebonnets, with a dirt path winding through the flowers and prickly pear cacti along its edges. Oak trees and shrubs crown the rise while soft haze fills the pale sky and distant hills. Julian Onderdonk painted this view of San Antonio, Texas, in 1914.
