About this work
This etching shows the interior of a rustic barn with a heavily timbered, open roof and a thatched or boarded structure beneath it. Straw, a wooden barrel, a cart wheel, and a few birds rest on the packed ground, while a figure in a long garment stands at the right beside a stacked pile. Dense cross-hatching models the shadows and light falling across the scene.
