About this work

A tonal aquatint in sepia shows the lakeside town of Rapperswil seen across open water, with a long wooden pier in the foreground where a woman carries a basket. Rowing boats drift on the lake beneath a sky filled with cumulus clouds, and the castle and church towers rise above the waterfront houses. The print is attributed to David Alois Schmid and dated 1833.
