About this work
This black-and-white engraving shows the wooden galleries of the Palais-Royal in Paris in 1828, viewed from the palace. A formal garden with a central fountain and rows of trees lies beyond a cluster of low sheds, while horse-drawn carts and pedestrians move across the courtyard in the foreground. The work is attributed to Theodor Josef Hubert Hoffbauer and reproduces an English aquatint of the period.
