About this work
An engraving in dense crosshatched lines shows a man's head tilted sharply upward, mouth open in a cry or shout, with one hand raised near the face. Strong contrast between the pale highlights on the brow and cheek and the dark, textured background gives the figure a dramatic, anguished presence.
