About this work

This page from Samuel Palmer's notebook combines a brown ink study of a dense cluster of foliage with handwritten instructions on drawing materials and technique. Faint pencil outlines and loose strokes appear across the sheet, with notes such as "Begin from the Claudes thus" and advice to begin with general forms drawn lightly in pencil. The leaf is undated.
